A few months ago, I was linked this song by a very obscure early-2000s band called Five Story Fall.
With 80,000 views, this song definitely seemed to catch an interest within a small niche community of people. Archive channels usually never see this kind of traction on archived uploads. From the description of this video, all we know is that Five Story Fall were an emo band from Missouri, active from 2000 to 2004. The band released an album called From Our Home to Yours and, at some point, an EP that included this song. However, the uploader notes that there does not seem to be any other mention of this band online. It doesn’t help that there are at least two other bands that share the same name.
The only other song visible by this band was called “Everyone Hates Me,” and appears on a compilation album.
Besides that, there was no other information about the band besides the names of the band members themselves in the original upload:

Following the names
Doing searches on most of these names brings up nothing in the Missouri area on Facebook. However, Joe Bubenik’s profile came up. I was hesitant to message at first, but I saw he was associated with a local band called Kris Kringle & the Jolly Jingles. They had holiday songs with a ska-forward twist.
Most notably, their band members listed Mark Scheer. At this point, I sent out a message to Joe Bubenik on Facebook.

It’s just me and my friend. This song has been blowing up on YouTube and has been circulating around some communities that like finding rarer songs: “I Just Wanted You to Know.”
I just wanted to find more information on the band since we really liked the song, and was hoping we could find the band to see if we could hear the other songs.
We’ve only listened to “I Just Wanted You to Know” and “Everyone Hates Me” from the Distance Is Deceiving compilation album.

This is from a four-song EP we recorded in October 2001 or 2002.
I don’t remember what song “Everyone Hates Me” is. It’s probably from a previous recording we did. I remember it being on this compilation, but not much more.
I was excited to see that this was indeed the Joe from the original YouTube description, and that the unknown EP did exist. It was a self-titled EP of four songs recorded in October 2002.

I have an MP3 of it if you want to hear it to confirm whether or not it was from your band. Actually, someone had recently found a used copy of this compilation album and uploaded it on YouTube for us who were curious about more songs from Five Story Fall: “Everyone Hates Me.”

It seems he might have forgotten this song, but this was indeed Five Story Fall’s song and their recording From Our Home To Yours did exist as well. I asked again about an upload, and he was able to come through with four uploads of all four songs from the missing EP:
I’m glad I was able to find this band, and I’m glad I was able to find the rest of this unknown EP. This is my first time finding something lost, and I hope it won’t be my last.
